Plus, the PlayStation 2's sound effects tend to match the environment a little better. You really have to be listening, though, so it's nothing ground-shaking. The GCN may have slightly clearer sound effects, but the surround doesn't behave like it should for example, as pigeons flock out of your way to fly behind you, you still hear them up front on the center channel on PS2, the sound retreats to the rear channels correctly. GameCube and PlayStation 2 are very close. PC also sounds great, but has no custom soundtrack option. Not only does it have nice, crisp sound effects and in-game five-channel surround, but it also has custom soundtracks, a huge bonus for games in this genre. The Breakdown: Xbox is a champ in this arena.
